November roses

We put the garden to bed this week and cut the roses back, but not before I picked the last of them.  Just being able to pick roses in November is amazing.

The mild weather that we've been blessed with for much of October has come to an end.  It's starting to get cold and it was time to finish up with the outside work for another year. I even saw a few snow flurries this morning!  I'm so not ready for that.

I'm making progress with my craft room once again and the kitchen and dining room are just about done.  I hope to be able to share a few sneak peeks with you in my next post.  The pantry was scheduled to begin next week but I decided to finish up with the above projects before starting another so it might be delayed a bit.  It's feeling a little chaotic around here!

In the meantime, I'm just enjoying Autumn's last gifts.  I have to confess that I'm almost ready to put the Autumn decor away for another year and toss the pumpkins into the compost.  One or two have already found their way there.  I'm not quite ready for Christmas but looking forward to adding one or two more seasonal elements to my decor.  When do you start decorating for Christmas?

November can be rather bleak now that the trees are bare and sunny days are rare.  At least I can make it cosy inside, and warm things up with candles, lamplight and quilts.  These roses remind me of Summer so let's just think of warm sunny days - at least for today.  :)

See you soon!

xoxo,
Lynda

  1. These photos are just beautiful. I don't start decorating until after Thanksgiving. Oh boy…I didn't like seeing Christmas and Halloween displays side by side this year…talk about scary! ;)

  3. November roses! How often does that happen where you live?! They are beautiful and, as always, I love the way you have photographed them (the floral plate is so pretty!) I just caught up on your blog and am so glad to hear your good news. My prayers are always with you. Hugs, Christy

I begin decorating for Christmas right after Thanksgiving, and I am looking so forward to it. :-)

  6. Isn't it wonderful that you were able to enjoy roses so late in the year...thank you for bringing them in and sharing them with us, they are quite lovely!! We are still enjoying Fall here, amazing tho it seems so late, but many trees are still full, but now that we have had a couple of nights of hard frost I fear most of them will disappear shortly. My front yard tree literally dropped all of it's leaves in less than 48 hours. My front yard is a sea of gold. Blessings & have a wonderful weekend.

  7. What scrumptious photos! I used to cut my roses back. Now I allow "the energy" to go back into the plant. This summer was the first time I noticed that the rosebushes are definitely growing. I imagine that yours are already well established. Shhh...tell no one, but I have already started decorating for Christmas...it's all very subtle, though. The full-blown effect happens in the days after Thanksgiving, which is quite late this year. I leave smiling to think how you have created warmth and coziness in your beautiful home.

  8. Hi Lynda,
Wishing you and yours good health..we just finished cutting back our roses and we were not liking having to do that. We want spring and summer back. Just have to get used to the idea that the hail we had the other day with flurries is just the start of what looks like will be a long cold winter. Have to think of all the spring flowers that will follow! It's all that is filling my thoughts! LOL! Enjoy the days my friend..

  9. Your roses are just beautiful, Lynda, and the extra cutting in November is a special gift. The fall foliage has faded here and the trees are nearly bare. I do love fall and have enjoyed the fall coziness about the house, but I must admit, I look forward to cleaning some things out soon and won't decorate until the beginning of December. I hope you are well and staying warm!
