Welcome 2011

Can you believe that 2010 is already behind us?  Although many wonderful things happened last year, I think my creative turning point was when I set my camera to full manual mode.  Finally I was in total control of my photography!  I haven't looked back since.

Now there's a fresh new year to look forward to and I have a lot of plans for 2011!  My word for this year is "grow" and I hope to do a lot of growing, personally and professionally, by the end of the year.  These are just a few of my aspirations for the year ...

Spend quality time on my photography.

Continue to simplify my home and lifestyle.

Choose vintage or handmade over purchased imported goods.

Buy local whenever possible, especially food.

Make time for creativity - keep my work table clear so that I can work on a project whenever a creative urge strikes.

Practice yoga 2-3 times a week; walk or run at least 2 days.

Eat fresh, homemade foods instead of prepared or packaged.

Lose 25 lbs by the end of 2011.  There!  I said it!  Now you can hold me accountable.  :)

Have you chosen a word for 2011?  What about your aspirations for the upcoming year?  Please share!

Happy New Year!  Let's make it memorable!

  5. Are you certain that you're not sending mixed messages? Here you want to "grow" and lose twenty-five pounds? :D

I love the word "grow." You're the first using it I've seen. It's a noble and worthy aspiration.

  6. Happy New Year! I hope you achieve all your goals. I'm not really sure if I have any resolutions as I kind of made some earlier in the year that I have done really well keeping.

  7. Linda,
That is an excellent list! I might even subscribe to it! Though I have to say I do eat pretty darned healthy. Last year I cut out high fructose corn syrup, and prepacked foods, as much as I possibly could (my girls didn't like that one to much). And usually I try to walk on a regular basis but lately the effort hasn't been there like it should be. You go for it though!

My word(s) for the year were 'Inner Tranquility' but after the first day (which hopefully was the worst day of the year), those words were pretty much out the window. Sometimes being a mother is so, so difficult.

    Sorry to ramble on.

  13. That is an inspiring list.. so many good things posted there. That will make a fabulous year for you!

How funny....2010 was the year I went completely manual too. I used to set my camera on manual for my nature shots, especially macro, but I finally took the plunge and started photographing people in manual...I didn't think it was possible. It has changed everything. So much freedom now, and my images are more properly exposed than ever.
So cheers to us both for taking that bold step!!! xo
