Walk up the painted wooden steps and across the porch. Scrape the mud off your shoes before going inside. Open the screen door and hang your coat on the hooks. You've come home.
My Dear Friend, (since forever..) you have brought back such wonderful memories that just made me stop in my tracks to recall this kind of moment with my Dad as he came home from work on a sunny day.. Bless You..
I love doors like that -- and have always wanted one. We had them at my grandfather's cottages in Haliburton but the whole idea of opening a door like that and being "home" -- your photography and your words paint a most satisfying image!
Thank you for sharing your lovely memories! I have a thing for these old wooden screen doors too ... maybe that's why I'm always on the look out for them.
No, this isn't my home but I thought the porch was so quaint, I had to photograph it. ♥
What a perfect colour for a front door. So soft and subtle and beautiful. Makes me wish I could see the rest of the house...and the surrounding garden...I have such a pretty image of it in my head. Was there a beautiful garden?
It might seems silly but I've always wanted a screen door that goes 'bang' every time it shuts, just like when I was a kid.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty, Linda. I wish it were my door.
I want to live in that house...it seems like the place where you always smell fresh baked cookies! And everyone inside is happy.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't this just evoke wonderful memories of a former time. Is this really your home? I love the colors of the house and the door.

ReplyDeleteI love the sound that the screen door makes as it slams behind you when you enter - the welcoming sounds of home. Thank you for sharing. :)
ReplyDeleteSo inviting and lovely... those soft colors of cream & sage are delightful! Is this your home, Lynda?! :o) Happy Day ((HUGS))
