My mantel is in serious need of a makeover. This mantel is my husband's pride and joy so there is absolutely no chance of lightening it up with paint. Talk about focal point, this thing is huge! At over 100 years old, it really is a work of art ... and nearly impossible to decorate. Inspired by Layla's own mantel makeover over at The Lettered Cottage, I'm determined to have a nicely decorated mantel by Friday.

I checked out that post~ so cute, I love the birds nest. I can't wait to see how yours turns out. I'm sure you will find a beautiful solution to work with the dark wood.

But can see how it might be hard to decorate with... and especially with no changes in paint/finish allowed...LOL! ;o) Even just the vase of flowers dresses it up I think...LOVELY!
