Pussy Willows

Another sign of spring ... pussy willows!  Tucked into a container with a bit of water, they'll soon start to grow roots.  They can then be planted in a pot with earth and later transferred to the garden.

My garden isn't large enough to accommodate them ... they'll grow as tall as 20 feet!  Instead I enjoy them indoors as long as I can.  You can also put them in a dry container and let them dry out on their own.  They'll keep for several months this way.

Once the soft furry catkins begin to drop off, leaves will begin to develop.  Hopefully by that time, there will be signs of spring outside.

  1. Oh faithful indicator of spring...the pussy willow! Must have John search the ditches near "the Ponderosa" that I might have some, too.

  9. Lynda,

Your photography continues to be even more stunning with each new day. I love pussy willows, and your photography really shows them off in these beautiful vignettes.

I just entered those treasury giveaways. What a brilliant idea.
